James F. (Jim) Oehmke Jim has more than 25 years experience in economic and social impact assessment, covering such areas as productivity analysis and economic growth, investments in agricultural research, education, rural and urban labour and employment issues, and policy analysis.
He has a Ph.D. in economics and an M.A. in economics from the University of Chicago, and a B.A. in mathematics and economics from Yale University. Jim was a professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Michigan State University from 1985 to 2007. In addition to co-founding a Biotechnology Interest Group, which conducted research on agricultural biotechnology issues, Jim was co-chair of the Centre for Applied Economic Analysis at MSU.
Jim ensures the Centre's participation in research on new opportunities for improving competitiveness, enhancing the growth of the Centre and the Canadian agri-products sector.
