Minimum Wage Increase Impact Study
The Ontario government has a plan in place to increase the hourly minimum wage to $10.25 by 2010. It is important to understand the impacts of this change on various segments of agriculture, especially those with large numbers of minimum wage earners.
Horticulture is one such industry, and is the focus of a study on the effects of labour cost increases. The resulting report, attached here, provides context for the implications and suggests alternative actions.
